WHAT TO EXPECT IN CEO


CEO Leadership Program is FOUR weeks long and will be an amazing adventure full of Challenge, Experience, and Opportunity!

SESSION DATES:
Session 1: June 30-July 28, 2012
Session 2: July 28-August 25, 2012

THE OUT-TRIP:
The program begins with a four day canoe trip. You can be sure that this experience will yield lots of opportunities for you to grow in your leadership and face some new challenges. This trip is always a highlight for CEO’s, as that is where memories are made and the group bonds to create long lasting friendships.

LEADERSHIP STUDIO:
Once home from the out-trip, the CEO’s meet in the Leadership Studio daily to discover about themselves and grow in their leadership. It is always FUN, and guaranteed to be inspiring as the CEO’s have access to top learning resources and experiential leadership activities.

KEY LEARNING RESOURCES
The following information is a breakdown of the key learning resources that will be taught in both CEO sessions from our senior leadership team.

Eagle's Flight is a world leader in the development and delivery of powerful, principle-based business training programs. Their programs are offered in 11 languages and are represented by international distributors in 17 countries. Some of their clients include NIKE Canada Ltd., Parmalat, AT&T Canada, and Hewlett Packard. The CEO Program utilizes their unique, experiential programs that are designed to teach and illustrate leadership skills such as communicating vision, setting goals, becoming a pace-setter, interpersonal communication and teamwork.

Personal Profile System®, Dimensions of Behavior (DISC)
The Personal Profile System® presents a plan to help you understand yourself and others in a specific environment. As a CEO, you are the central focus as you heighten understanding of your behavioral profile and identify the environment most conducive to your success. At the same time, you will learn about the differences of others and the environment they need for productivity and teamwork. These modules, taught by John McAuley (President of Muskoka Woods) will explore The Personal Profile System® in a fun and interactive way that will allow you to understand yourself and others in a way that you have never explored before. VISIONEERING AND PROJECT PLANNING BY LAUNCH CANADA
Young leaders are changing our world. These visionaries are transforming technology, media and culture. Today's emerging generation has vision and global awareness unmatched by past generations. LAUNCH (the leadership initiative of Youth Unlimited) is committed to coaching, mentoring and resourcing these creative young visionaries as they birth new ventures. Through these modules, Carl Nash (Director of LAUNCH) will interact with each CEO to facilitate skills in visioneering and project planning. In addition, CEO's will have the opportunity to recognize their own 'pioneering abilities' and to strengthen skills allowing them to thrive in environments requiring both goal setting AND problem solving. Just imagine…your creative ideas that get stirred up during the CEO program may one day change the world!!

Practical Experience

INSTRUCTING, COUNSELLING & HOSPITALITY Where would you like to work? CEO’s have the unique opportunity to use their leadership skills at all areas of camp.

• Instructing
Each CEO will have the opportunity to spend time in one of our athletic or arts areas for three weeks. The CEO will first attend the class to observe and learn. Secondly, the CEO will "job shadow" the instructor and be introduced to the preparations and planning necessary to work with a group of guests. Thirdly, the CEO will assist the instructor in leading the class. Finally, the CEO will lead the class on their own and be evaluated by the CEO Director.

• Counselling
Get ready to see what it is like to be a counsellor. CEO’s have the opportunity to co-counsellor with a Muskoka Wood’s staff member and take care of a cabin of guests.

• Programming
CEO's will also participate with the staff in planning and facilitating various evening programs for some of our younger guests at Muskoka Woods.

• Hospitality
Finally, the CEO's will get the opportunity to work in the kitchen, tuck shop, or office, to experience the full spectrum of jobs offered at Muskoka Woods.

TOPICS EXPLORED
This portion of the CEO program is what SETS OUR PROGRAM APART from other leadership programs aimed at high school students. The program covers a wide variety of topics that will provide the CEO with tools and experience so that they may become the CEO of their own lives

ACCREDITATION
Assessment is an integral part of the CEO experience. CEO’s will receive ongoing feedback as they reflect on their growth and are evaluated by our Program Leaders. Our Leaders are certified teachers, so every experience is graded and a final mark is given for completion of the program. THE CEO STAFF
The CEO's are led by one Summer Program Director and two senior staff members who are hired specifically for their interest and passion for the development of young people. These staff members are there to plan, facilitate and participate in all activities with the CEO's and to develop relationships with them along the way.

SPIRITUAL
Muskoka Woods is a Christian Youth Resort that encourages young people to explore their beliefs. This component will be a daily occurrence in which the CEO's will have the opportunity to participate in thought provoking conversations about faith and spirituality.

FUN!
Remember that FUN is our trademark! You can be sure that EACH DAY CEO’s will have the opportunity to spend time with one another in pure recreation! The CEO's will have the chance to participate in many of the activities that we offer at our facility, as well as participate in one-of-a-kind evening programs that are exclusive to the CEO Leadership Program only.
