Camp Life

A week at Muskoka Woods is all about FUN, making new friends, learning new skill and experiencing many exciting activities only available in a camp setting. However, the following are some things that make Muskoka Woods unique.

Christian Camp:
Muskoka Woods is a Christian youth resort that welcomes all young people – regardless of their ethnicity or particular religion. One of our core values is to “invite people to explore their beliefs”. We understand that everyone believes something. Accordingly, we think it is important for young people to figure out what they believe and how to behave. Creating a safe place for young people from various backgrounds to dialogue on values, ethics and spiritual topics is our approach. Our hope is that after a week at camp, young people will be inspired to think in new ways about how their beliefs impact their daily lives.

Conversation Cafe/Cabin Chat:
Spiritual conversations happen each day in Conversation Café (J2/SH) and Cabin Chat (J1/WILD). The content focuses on character formation, personal values and Christian beliefs. Interactions that happen, both formally and informally, are age sensitive and respectful of diverse spiritual traditions. The intention is to create opportunities for guests to interact with each other and ask questions in safe settings with trained staff.

Impact/Spark:
Once a week, guests gather for a large, entertaining multi-media show. Guests in WILD and J1 attend Spark on Monday evenings. Impact takes place for J2/SH on Thursday evenings. Part concert, part theatre, part motivational speaker – Impact and Spark are designed to flow out of our Conversation Café/Cabin chat themes, engaging our guests in relevant, values-based topics.

Evening Program:
In each section at Muskoka Woods, the evenings are packed full with fun and memorable programs that are created to be perfect for your age and full of Muskoka Woods sizzle. One night you might be helping to solve a mystery, while the next evening competing with other cabins in a four corner game that is guaranteed to be memorable!

Shape Your World Café:
At Muskoka Woods, we seek to inspire youth to shape their world. Each week we invite young people who are already shaping their world in innovative ways to share their stories. In the past we have hosted young leaders from Pocket Change Apparel (a skateboarding company that donates profits to impoverished children) and Love Knits (a group of young people who knit scarves and hats for people living on the streets). In this coffee house setting, J2 and SH guests hear what inspires these young people and how their projects are impacting our world. Through our “Shape your World” cafés, guests will discover and share creative ways to make our world a better place and be inspired to take action.

Rainy Day Program:
Muskoka Woods has a rainy-day program in place in the event of rain and/or extreme weather. Guests will participate in a variety of indoor activities in lieu of their regularly scheduled activities until the weather clears. There is no adjustment in fees for rainy/extreme weather days.

Leaving Property:
If you plan to have friends or relatives pick up your children (besides those you have authorized on your registration form), you must provide written permission, including the details and your signature. Those picking up guests require photo identification. You must notify our office if your child will be leaving camp early or arriving late. Muskoka Woods does not release guest information to anyone who is not listed on the registration form as approved by the parent/guardian.

Lost and Found:
To avoid losing belongings, please emphasize the importance of your child double-checking their luggage before departure from camp. If an item is missing, encourage them to check the Lost and Found (in the main office) before leaving. Label all items with your child's name.
